One of the primary goals of the Neurological Society of India is Education.
For the ongoing education of the members, the Board of Education is a unique initiative.
This BOE is committed to ongoing, and constant education and training of the NSI members throughout the year. The mission statement of BOE is:
- Year-long education and training
- Equitable opportunities for the members of NSI
- Guidance towards the best available evidence
The activities of the BOE are aimed towards all the members of the society, both the students, and the full members.
The primary activities of the BOE aimed at the students are:
- Monthly online exams: where students present the clinical cases and are guided by the experienced professors from all around the country.
- Foundational course: This twice-yearly event is aimed at examining the students after the first year of their training and introducing the basics of neurosurgery.
- Instructional course: This twice-yearly event aims at providing a mock-examination scenario for the exam-going students
For the younger neurosurgeons, the BOE conducts a Super-Specialty CME, where one specialized topic from Neurosurgery / Neurosciences is discussed threadbare.
This event is held once a year, and majority of the faculty members are Indians.
The BOE also publishes a newsletter called ‘Current Practices in Neurosurgery’, where one controversial topic from neurosurgery is examined, and evidence for different kinds of approaches is discussed. This is published once every two months.
Activities planned
These educational activities are at the core of the mission of NSI, and BOE will work hard to fulfill them.
- Virtual OR
Were an expert neurosurgeon will discuss the nuances of a surgery threadbare.
- Hands on workshop
Will be held in every region once in six months for the residents and young neurosurgeons. - Endovascular workshop
Will be planned twice a year to promote endovascular techniques among the young neurosurgeons.
