Dear Members,
Season’s greetings to everyone, and I extend my warmest wishes for a very happy and healthy 2026.
Gratitude for the Opportunity
I am sincerely grateful to all of you for entrusting me with the honour of serving as your President in the coming year. It is a privilege to lead such a vibrant and dedicated community.
Reflections on 2025 and NSICON Indore
The NSI was extremely active throughout 2025, with the new Executive Committee taking on its responsibilities with dedication and enthusiasm. This period of activity culminated in a vibrant and exceptionally well-organized NSICON held in Indore. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Dr. Dakwale and Dr. Kathpal for their tireless efforts and the warm hospitality extended to all participants. Their commitment greatly contributed to the success of the event.
A Legacy of Excellence
In 1951, four pioneering young neuroscientists recognized the importance of forming a society dedicated to those interested in neurosciences. Now, seventy-five years later, we owe a debt of gratitude to these four founding fathers, as well as to many other trailblazers who have contributed to the society’s growth and its esteemed position on the international stage. As we reflect on their legacy, we acknowledge that we stand on the shoulders of giants. It is my hope that we will not only continue the excellent work accomplished in previous years but also strive to advance even further.
Vision for the Future
As President of the NSI, my vision is to foster an environment that supports the standardisation of educational standards across the country, as well as to give young neurosurgeons the opportunity of broadening their vision, advancing their skill sets and exposing them to the highest standards of neurosurgery, while at the same time helping them navigate the ground reality of our socio-economic and healthcare disparities. I aim to promote collaboration with other societies, enriching the professional lives of our members and empowering them in both their clinical and academic pursuits. Our ultimate goal is to march toward excellence in neuroscience, building on our strong foundation. I recognise that as a society we also need to engage with the government at various levels on issues that directly impact our education, our lives and the health and well-being of society.
Looking Ahead: The Platinum Jubilee Year
These are indeed exciting times for our society, as we celebrate our Platinum Jubilee Year. We are planning a series of stimulating scientific programs, and on behalf of the Executive Committee, I sincerely hope that all of you will actively participate in these initiatives.
This year, our activities will culminate in Ahmedabad with the NSICON 2026. We look forward to coming together to celebrate our achievements and to continue our journey toward excellence.
I would be happy to receive suggestions from all of you on how we could take the NSI to greater heights. Please feel free to email me on the mail – nsipresident@gmail.com or neurosridhar@gmail.com
Happy New Year
Best regards
